We understand that planning a Tanzania safari or Kilimanjaro trekking adventure is a major investment and that unexpected situations may arise. SafariBando aims to be transparent, fair, and supportive while balancing commitments already made to our partners, staff, and national authorities.
Once a booking is confirmed, SafariBando begins making advance payments on your behalf. These often include:
Hotels, safari lodges, and tented camps
Domestic flights and charter services
National park, conservation, and climbing permits
Food supplies, fuel, equipment, and logistics
Salaries for guides, drivers, porters, and support staff
Many of these costs are non-refundable once paid. For this reason, full refunds are not always possible, especially close to the departure date.
All cancellations must be made in writing and are effective from the date SafariBando receives the cancellation notice. Cancellation charges are calculated as a percentage of the total tour cost per person, excluding international flights.
More than 90 days before tour start:
10% cancellation fee
60–89 days before tour start:
30% cancellation fee
30–59 days before tour start:
60% cancellation fee
8–29 days before tour start:
80% cancellation fee
0–7 days before tour start:
No refund (100% cancellation fee)
International and domestic flights are 100% non-refundable once issued.
Bank charges and payment gateway fees will be deducted from any approved refund.
If cancellation penalties imposed by lodges, airlines, or park authorities exceed the percentages above, the non-refundable amount may increase accordingly.
Refund decisions are normally processed within 72 hours after receiving a written cancellation request.
In many cases, postponing your tour is a better alternative than canceling.
Deposits may be held as credit for a future SafariBando trip, subject to supplier approval.
Price differences may apply if park fees, accommodation rates, or seasons change.
Approval of date changes depends on lodge and airline policies.
Cancellations made during peak seasons
(mid-December to March and July to October)
may incur higher penalties, particularly for accommodation and flights, which can represent a significant portion of the total tour cost.
In cases of serious illness, death, natural disaster, war, or other extreme circumstances, SafariBando will review the situation individually and make every reasonable effort to reduce penalties where possible, subject to supplier policies.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers:
Trip cancellation or interruption
Medical expenses and emergency evacuation
Flight delays or cancellations
SafariBando will provide documentation to support insurance claims where applicable.
By confirming your booking and paying the deposit, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted SafariBando’s Cancellation & Refund Policy.
