Kasekela Luxury Tented Camp is in Gombe Stream National Park — the Tanzania park where Dr Jane Goodall conducted her landmark chimpanzee research beginning in 1960. The camp sits on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, the world's longest freshwater lake, with panoramic lake views and forest behind. Each of 8 elegantly designed safari tents is "inspired by the legendary chimpanzees of Gombe" with modern amenities, private en-suite bathrooms and private viewing decks.

Guests wake to birds calling in the tropical forest, listen to chimpanzee screams drifting from the forest slopes and watch the lake light change. Chimpanzee trekking excursions are guided by expert trackers who reveal the secrets of Goodall's famous Kasekela community — the very same chimpanzees (now their descendants) studied since 1960. Access is by boat transfer from Kigoma — approximately 1.5 hours across Lake Tanganyika. Best time: dry season June–October for more frequent chimp sightings and easier trails.
