Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp β Infinity Pool at the Edge of the Rift Valley
Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp is built right at the edge of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, 600 metres above the Lake Manyara floodplain, with an infinity swimming pool and a two-storey lodge positioned to maximise the extraordinary panoramic view. The camp sits close to Mto wa Mbu β the lively market town at the base of the escarpment β and is approximately a 15-minute drive from Lake Manyara National Park gate, making it a convenient and visually dramatic base for Manyara game drives.
The property divides its accommodation into canvas safari tents and permanent stone-and-timber cottages, giving guests a choice between the tented-camp atmosphere and solid lodge accommodation. The thatched two-storey main lodge houses the restaurant, bar and upstairs lounge, all oriented to the view. The infinity pool in front of the lodge is the social centrepiece β positioned at the escarpment edge, it creates the visual impression of swimming into the Rift Valley itself.
Accommodation
Ten canvas safari tents and 16 two-storey cottages, all with king-size beds, mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms with shower and bathtub, and private viewing decks or balconies over the floodplain. Rooms are individually furnished with chunky wooden furniture and patterned soft furnishings. The 39 sqm standard rooms are comfortable and well-appointed; triple and quadruple configurations are available. The Honeymoon Suite is a 55 sqm premium tent in a secluded position with two private viewing decks and a jacuzzi β one of the most romantic rooms in the Manyara area. The Superior Family Room (70 sqm) has two bedrooms and sleeps a family of four.
Activities
Game drives to Lake Manyara National Park (15 minutes) for tree-climbing lions, flamingos, hippos and elephants. Cultural walks in Mto wa Mbu market town β one of Tanzania's most ethnically diverse communities with over 120 tribal groups represented. The upstairs lounge has a flat-screen TV for sports viewing. The restaurant serves a mix of traditional Tanzanian, Indian, Italian and continental dishes.

Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp delivers the Rift Valley view experience at a mid-range price, with the infinity pool being the standout feature. The honeymoon suite with jacuzzi and two viewing decks is genuinely romantic and represents good value compared to similarly positioned rooms at the Serena. The mix of tents and cottages accommodates different preferences in the same party. Not the most refined operation β the cottage dΓ©cor is functional rather than inspired β but for the escarpment views and the pool, it delivers what it promises.β The SafariBando team
