4-Day Murchison Falls Safari - Chimpanzee Trekking

After an early breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a drive of around 3 hours. On arrival, meet a professional guide for a 2-hour nature walk and rhino tracking experience, the only place in Uganda where you can see these endangered animals in their natural habitat. Continue to Kabalega Resort for a hot lunch and a short rest, then drive through Budongo Forest toward the top of Murchison Falls, experiencing the power of the falls up close on a simple hike before returning for dinner and an overnight stay.

Distance: Transfer to Ziwa (approx. 3 hours), then on to Murchison Falls area (approx. 3 hours total driving)

After breakfast, depart for a 3 to 4-hour game drive through Murchison Falls National Park, with your driver-guide choosing a route based on local knowledge and recent sightings, including the chance of Big Five species. Afterwards, take a thrilling 2-hour boat cruise along the Nile, with close views of hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, buffalo and elephant along the banks, plus birdlife including the Goliath heron, kingfisher and weaver birds. At the base of the falls, choose between a hike to the top or photographs from the rocks below before returning to the lodge.

After breakfast, drive to Budongo Forest, home to one of Uganda’s habituated chimpanzee communities. Following a briefing, set out on a 4 to 5-hour chimpanzee trekking experience in the Kaniyo Pabidi sector, with your guide explaining how the chimpanzees relate to one another and the challenges they face. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and rest, before an evening 2-hour nature walk through the forest reserve.
