Villa Matalai has been a family residence for 25 years and has recently been refurbished into a small idyllic lodge catering to those who want to explore the beautiful northern Tanzania coastline and experience life in a small African fishing village. Villa Matalai has seven individually designed Swahili inspired guest rooms and suites in three separate buildings overlooking the Manza Bay in the north Tanga archipelago.
The main house has one suite and two twin/double rooms, a kitchen, a large centralized living and dining room and a cosy Swahili courtyard for windy days. The village side Annex has two small suites, each with a bed room and living room with a sofa bed. The beach side “Makuti” covered banda features a bar and lounge area with BBQ, two twin/double rooms and a garden.
Activitie during your stay
Daily boat trips will be organized to nearby beaches, islands, reefs or sandbanks for guests to enjoy swimming, snorkelling fishing, Safari excursions to the nearby Saadani National Park & Visit and explore the Amboni caves
