Mbali Mbali Tarangire River Camp sits within a 25,000-hectare private concession bordering a branch of the Tarangire River, just 3.5km from Tarangire National Park’s main entrance gate. Part of the Mbali Mbali collection (which also operates camps in Katavi and Mahale), the lodge offers easy access to both Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks for full-day game drives.

Tents

Around 20 safari tents are connected to the main lodge by well-marked wooden walkways, each raised on an elevated wooden platform with a thatched roof to keep cool, a private veranda, en-suite bathroom (toilet, shower and basin) and mosquito-netted king or twin beds. Three room types are available: Standard, Deluxe and Family Safari Rooms. The single Luxury Safari Tent is built around an ancient baobab tree with sweeping views over the Tarangire River, featuring an extra-length king bed plus an outdoor shower and bath for al fresco bathing.

Camp Facilities

The main lodge, built on an elevated deck with traditional grass thatching, houses a breezy open-air lounge and a dining area with simple safari-style seating overlooking the riverbank. A bonfire and game-viewing deck adjoins the dining and lounge areas, alongside a swimming pool – a welcome retreat in the heat of the day. A small, informal gift shop gives nearby Maasai families the chance to sell handmade wares.

Activities

Game drives in Tarangire National Park (3.5km away) and Lake Manyara National Park, plus walking tours through the surrounding concession bush, where wildlife moves freely through the elevated camp structures.
