Singita Mara River Tented Camp β Eco-Luxury on the Great Migration's Front Line
Singita Mara River Tented Camp occupies one of the most dramatic locations in the Serengeti: a spectacular bend in the Mara River in the Lamai Triangle, the remote northernmost corner of the park, just south of the Kenyan border. This is the front line of the Great Migration's river crossings β from the camp's elevated position, guests can sometimes watch wildebeest plunge into the crocodile-patrolled water without leaving the lounge.
The camp is Singita's most intimate East African property β just six tented suites (four standard and two family) β and the most eco-forward. It operates entirely off-grid on a custom solar power system, uses recycled and natural materials throughout, and was designed to leave the lightest possible footprint on the landscape. The Lamai Triangle concession is a 98,000-acre area with year-round wildlife concentrations that rival any sector of the Serengeti, thanks to its distinctive soil composition and permanent water from the Mara River.
Camp Design
The six suites are positioned on elevated decks overlooking the river bend, with canvas walls, curved clean lines, and an afro-bohemian aesthetic inspired by Maasai geometric patterns and local craftsmanship. Spun natural fabrics, raw leather, stone and canvas create interiors that are simultaneously luxurious and light. Each suite has a walk-in shower, bathtub, private deck, and fans. The main area includes a lounge, bar, dining tent, a plunge pool with river views, and a spa. Meals are prepared by Singita's chefs using fresh produce, complemented by the brand's legendary wine cellar.
Activities
Twice-daily game drives in open Land Rovers with a maximum of six guests per vehicle are conducted by expert field guides. Night drives reveal nocturnal predators and species invisible by day. Walking safaris explore the riverine forest and surrounding bush. Hot-air balloon safaris provide aerial views of the migration and the Mara River system. Bush dining β breakfast, lunch or dinner served in remote locations within the concession β is a Singita signature. Tennis is available for those wanting a break from the bush.
Who Is Singita Mara River Best For?
This camp is for travellers who want the northern Serengeti's best river-crossing access combined with Singita's ultra-luxury service standard, but in a more intimate and eco-conscious format than the larger Faru Faru Lodge in the Grumeti. It suits couples, honeymooners, and families with children aged ten and above who value exclusivity, sustainability and front-row migration access. The six-tent size means the camp sells out well in advance during peak crossing season (JulyβOctober).

Singita Mara River is the most exclusive camp in the northern Serengeti. Six tents, solar-powered, on a Mara River bend in the Lamai Triangle β during peak crossing season, this is the single best address in the Serengeti for witnessing the Great Migration's most dramatic chapter. The afro-bohemian design is lighter and more contemporary than Faru Faru, and the eco-credentials are genuine. Book 6-12 months in advance for July-October; this camp sells out. Combine with two nights at Faru Faru in the Grumeti for the definitive Singita Serengeti experience.β The SafariBando team
