3-Day Queen Elizabeth Safari with Chimp Trekking

Leave Kampala early to clear the city before traffic builds, with a stop for coffee and photos at the Equator. Continue through cultivated villages and lush green tea estates before reaching the escarpment, with magnificent views opening up over Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check in to your lodge, with the late afternoon free for a village walk or simply taking in the view.

An early game drive brings strong chances of elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard, with warthog and hyena also regularly spotted along the circuits. Birdlife is rich here too, with storks in the wetland areas and flamingo at the Kasenyi salt lakes. After lunch, take the classic 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a 36-kilometre stretch linking Lake George and Lake Edward, where hippo and Nile crocodile gather along the banks and elephant are often seen playing in the shallows, with a wide range of birdlife visible along the peninsula.
