With direct access to the river, your days here are filled with adventurous canoeing safaris, tracking game on foot along the shoreline, and fishing for the iconic tiger fish. A game drive in an open 4x4 along the floodplains and into the heart of the Mana Pools UNESCO World Heritage Site is an absolute must. Activities include guided walking safaris, canoeing safaris and game drives, all led by qualified, passionate guides who share their knowledge and love of the bush, with all activities complimentary.

Enjoy lunch and a siesta before setting out on the afternoon safari, choosing between a canoeing trip along a calm stretch of the Zambezi or a further game drive across the floodplains. Frequently asked questions

Is this trip suitable for travellers who haven't been on safari before?

Yes, although the fly-in format and emphasis on walking and canoeing safaris give it a more immersive, hands-on character than a typical vehicle-based safari, which appeals especially to travellers who already have some safari experience or want a more active trip.

How fit do I need to be for the walking and canoeing safaris?

Walking safaris involve walking on uneven ground for a few hours at a time, and canoeing requires basic paddling ability, though no prior experience is necessary as guides handle navigation. Reasonable fitness is recommended for both.

Why does this tour use light aircraft instead of road transfers?

Mana Pools and Hwange are a considerable distance apart by road, so flying between them keeps the itinerary to 7 days while maximising time in each park rather than losing days to driving.

Will I see elephants on this trip?

Both Mana Pools and Hwange are known for strong elephant populations, with Hwange in particular home to one of the largest concentrations in Africa. As with any wildlife safari, no individual sighting can be guaranteed.

What's included in the price?

The price covers park fees for non-residents, all flights during the tour, all activities unless labelled as optional, all accommodation unless listed as an upgrade, a professional driver-guide, all transportation unless labelled as optional, all taxes and VAT, roundtrip airport transfers, and the meals and drinks specified in the day-by-day itinerary. International flights, additional accommodation before or after the tour, tips and personal items such as souvenirs, travel insurance and visa fees are not included.

What about visas and travel insurance?

Most nationalities can obtain a Zimbabwe tourist visa on arrival or online before travel. Travel insurance covering medical evacuation is strongly recommended given the remote camps and light aircraft transfers involved in this itinerary.
