Alex Walker's Serian — Serengeti's Most Personal Safari Camp

Alex Walker's Serian is an award-winning mobile tented camp that represents the apex of personalised Serengeti guiding. Founded by Alex Walker — a native East African with over 30 years of safari experience — the camp moves between locations in the southern and northern Serengeti to follow the Migration and optimal game conditions. "Serian" means "peaceful, calm, serene" in the Maasai language.

The camp's defining feature is operational: each safari group receives their own dedicated 4WD open vehicle, personal guide and tracker — no shared vehicles, no strangers joining your drive. This single-vehicle-per-group approach delivers a quality of experience that most camps cannot match. The camp deliberately avoids WiFi and phone signal, creating a genuine digital detox environment. A December 2025 TripAdvisor review from 4 days in the southern Serengeti describes "the most remote area of the southern Serengeti," "complete tranquility, no other safari vehicles," "huge tents with plush beds, hot water bucket showers, outdoor patios," "tastiest soups I've had" and "coffee, tea, hot chocolate free flow all day."

Hot water is delivered in 40-litre bucket showers (warm pitched water — the traditional bush shower). Hot water bottles in beds for chilly mornings. Campfire evenings. Bush breakfasts served by guides in the middle of the Serengeti plains.
