Kisampa Bush Retreat is not inside Saadani National Park but in a private community conservation sanctuary adjacent to it — a pristine wild area with ox-bow lakes, riverine forests, open grassland and "wild rolling hills and steep ridges that provide breathtaking views of the surrounding areas." It sits on a remote hilltop. The AfrikaAfrika team who manage it love it so much that "some of the team live here permanently."

A TripAdvisor reviewer captures the arrival: "After a long trip from Lushoto along some bumpy African roads, we stood outside our hut and, in the light of the setting sun, we watched a family of Colobus monkeys leaping through the trees. Kisampa is a beautiful place." The camp offers "divine country style lunches of freshly baked bread from our brick oven, hearty soups and salads along fresh seasonal fruit." It is a birder's paradise, with secluded birding platforms for full-day observation. The retreat has become popular for yoga retreats and personal meditation — described as "the ultimate place to wind down."
