Day to Day Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day will be at leisure allowing you to relax after your international flight and prepare for the safari adventure ahead.

Day 2: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

After an early breakfast you will depart Nairobi and drive south toward Amboseli National Park.  The park lies near the Kenya–Tanzania border and is famous for its large elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

The ecosystem consists mainly of open savannah grassland, home to elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, wildebeests and many other wildlife species. Visitors may also have opportunities to interact with the local Maasai communities.

Day 3: Amboseli Game Drive – Lake Naivasha

Enjoy an early morning game drive in Amboseli National Park when wildlife is most active. Later you will depart for Lake Naivasha located in the Great Rift Valley.

Upon arrival you will enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the lake where you may see hippos and a variety of birdlife.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Reserve

Depart early in the morning and travel toward the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve.

You will arrive around mid morning and begin your game drive through this remarkable reserve known for its abundant wildlife and spectacular landscapes.

Day 5: Maasai Mara – Northern Serengeti

After an early morning game drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve, you will depart the reserve and travel toward Tanzania crossing the border at Isibania.

Continue to the northern region of Serengeti National Park where you may witness the spectacular Great Migration as millions of wildebeests cross the Mara River.

Day 6: Northern Serengeti – Central Serengeti

Enjoy a morning game drive in northern Serengeti National Park. If the migration crossing was not seen the previous day there is another opportunity today to witness this incredible natural phenomenon.

After the morning safari you will continue on an en route game drive toward the central Serengeti area enjoying wildlife sightings along the way until sunset.

Day 7: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy a final morning game drive in the central Serengeti plains.

After lunch you will travel toward the remarkable Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving in the evening at the crater rim for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

Today you descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world.

Often referred to as the Eden of Africa or the eighth wonder of the world, the crater hosts a dense population of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos and leopards. With some luck you may see all members of the Big Five in a single day.

Day 9: Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience

Early in the morning you will travel to Lake Eyasi to visit the indigenous Hadzabe community.

Accompanied by a local guide you will walk into the bush with the Hadzabe, one of the last remaining hunter gatherer tribes in East Africa. You will also meet the Datoga community and learn about their traditional lifestyle and craftsmanship.

Day 10: Lake Manyara National Park – Moshi

After breakfast you will drive toward Lake Manyara National Park located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. This beautiful park is known for its lush groundwater forest, diverse birdlife including flamingos and its famous tree climbing lions.

After the game drive you will continue your journey to the town of Moshi near the base of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 11: Mount Kilimanjaro Day Hike – Marangu Route

Today you will experience a day hike on Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route.

The hike begins at Marangu Gate at an elevation of approximately 1,879 meters and continues through beautiful rainforest to Mandara Hut at 2,720 meters. The round trip hike covers approximately 16 kilometres and usually takes about three to four hours each way.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.

This marks the end of your Kenya and Tanzania safari adventure.
