5-Day Katavi National Park Tanzania Safari

An early pick-up from your hotel in Arusha, Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar transfers you to the airport for a shared charter flight to Katavi National Park (via Mpanda airport). On arrival, a vehicle transfers you to your lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon or early evening game drive if time allows, and sundowners to close out the day.

A full day exploring Katavi National Park's floodplains with a picnic lunch. The Katuma River and the seasonal Lakes Katavi and Chada are the main focus, supporting Tanzania's densest concentrations of hippo and crocodile in the wet season, and drawing huge dry-season gatherings of elephant and buffalo when the floodwaters retreat to a shallow trickle.

Another day in the park, with a morning game drive and the option to focus on birdwatching, Katavi records over 400 bird species, including saddle-billed and open-billed storks, spoonbills, African fish eagles, bateleurs, lilac-breasted rollers and paradise flycatchers. Return to the lodge for brunch, with a further afternoon game drive and evening sundowners.
