Honeyguide Tarangire Camp — Classic Bush Camp With Safari Giant DNA

Honeyguide Tarangire Camp is a 10-tent luxury tented camp inside Tarangire National Park, operated by Tanganyika Wilderness Camps (TWC) — the same company behind Lake Burunge Tented Camp, Kitela Lodge and Honeyguide's sister Mafia Island property. Although relatively new among Tarangire camps, Honeyguide has quickly established itself as having the feel of a classic that has been refining itself for decades. Timbuktu Travel calls it: "Honeyguide has all the makings of a legendary camp."

The camp is positioned in the northern part of Tarangire, 15 minutes from the main park gate, set in a grove of umbrella thorn acacia trees with open savannah views. It is unfenced — elephants, zebra and other wildlife move through the camp regularly. Families report zebra and elephant walking past their tents nightly. The evening campfire (known as "bush TV" in East African safari tradition) is the social heart of camp after game drives.

Accommodation

Ten luxury tents on raised wooden platforms with private verandas overlooking the savannah. En-suite bathrooms with hot and cold showers, flush toilets, flat-screen TVs, wooden furniture and comfortable queen-size beds. The communal area is a Bedouin-style dining tent and lounge connected by a wooden walkway. Fireplaces provide warmth on cool evenings. Rates include full board, house drinks (soft drinks, beer, wine and local spirits), and a contribution to TWC's community CSR project. Park fees and camping fees are additional. A vintage Land Rover for game drives is available at daily supplementary rate.
