Kuro Tarangire — Nomad Tanzania's Authentic Bush Camp on the River

Kuro Tarangire is Nomad Tanzania's Tarangire property — the same company behind Entamanu Ngorongoro, Greystoke Mahale and Lamai Serengeti — and it carries the Nomad stamp of understated quality, environmental awareness and expert guiding that distinguishes all their operations. Set in a grove of acacia and kigelia (sausage) trees on the banks of the Tarangire River in one of the park's best game areas, Kuro is a 6-tent intimate camp with a distinctive wood and thatch mess tent at its centre.

The Tarangire River is the park's lifeline — as the dry season progresses, wildlife converges on the river corridor in extraordinary concentrations. Kuro's position "a stone's throw from the banks" means elephant, impala, bushbuck, dik-dik and other species are virtually always visible from camp. The camp's morning tradition — coffee delivered to rooms while guests watch the sunrise from bed — is a recurring detail in glowing reviews.

Accommodation

Six tents (seven according to some sources, with recent expansion) furnished with indoor bathroom, private veranda and the characteristically comfortable Nomad fittings in gentle shades of blues, browns and creams. The open-sided thatch lounge has wooden chairs and plush sofas. The rate includes full board, house drinks (except champagne and premium wines), game drives, bush walks, scheduled airstrip transfers and laundry. Park fees and game drive vehicle costs are additional if using camp vehicles. Minimum age 8 years.

Activities

Game drives in Tarangire. Guided bush walks exploring the river corridor on foot. Morning coffee at sunrise from the tent veranda. Evening campfire dinners under the stars. The river itself is the focal point — watching the wildlife negotiate the sandy waterway from camp is a constant entertainment.
