Maramboi Tented Camp — Palm Oasis Between Tarangire and Lake Manyara

Note on recent closure: Maramboi Tented Camp was temporarily closed from May 2025 to January 2026 due to significantly elevated water levels in Lake Manyara, which overflowed and rendered parts of the camp inaccessible. Tanganyika Wilderness Camps (TWC) undertook infrastructure improvements including new walkways during this period. The camp reopened in January 2026. Maramboi Tented Camp is a large, comfortable tented camp operated by Tanganyika Wilderness Camps (TWC), set among an oasis of palm trees on open golden plains in the private concession between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. The location is genuinely strategic: game drives can be taken into both parks from a single base, the Manyara-Tarangire wildlife corridor passes through the concession bringing migrating herds between seasons, and the birdlife — particularly waterbirds attracted from the lake — is exceptional.

Accommodation

Forty-four spacious tented rooms are built on raised wooden platforms with thatched roofs, each with double or twin beds, mosquito nets, en-suite bathroom with solar-heated hot water, a writing desk and a private terrace with plains views. Six family rooms offer connected twin and double configurations for larger groups. Superior Suite rooms add air conditioning, a separate lounge area, and views toward Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley, with an outdoor shower. The main lodge has a thatched dining room and bar, and a large swimming pool overlooking the plains — one of the better camp pools in the Tarangire area. Each evening a campfire is lit and, weather permitting, dinner is served outside under the stars.
