Nyikani Camp Tarangire โ Authentic Bush Camp in the Remote South
Nyikani Camp Tarangire (formerly known as Kichuguu Camp before the Nyikani brand expansion) is a 13-tent camp in the remote southern section of Tarangire National Park โ a part of the park rarely accessed by the cluster of lodges near the main entrance. The southern Tarangire is open terrain with excellent game densities, baobab landscapes and significantly fewer vehicles than the northern sections. The camp sits in this open terrain and provides access to a good range of safari activities in conditions closer to pure bush experience.
Nyikani Tarangire is positioned as an authentic mid-range tented camp: comfortable, well-managed and characterful without attempting to compete with the luxury lodges. The carpeted tents are well-appointed, the bucket showers are a classic bush experience, and the firepit evenings give the camp genuine African atmosphere. Safari Consultants describes it as "a very practical and good quality option if some of the more exclusive tented lodges in Tarangire are either not your preference or are just out of range price wise."
Accommodation
Thirteen canvas tents including one family tent, arranged across the camp with 15-20 metres between them for privacy. Each tent has a carpeted wooden floor, king or twin beds, bedside tables and lighting, writing desk, digital safe, universal power adaptor and private veranda with chairs and a small table. En-suite bathroom with flush toilet, twin washbasins and a classic bucket shower. A lounge tent, dining tent and bar/fire area serve as communal spaces.
Activities
Game drives in the southern Tarangire for elephant, lion, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and the park's exceptional birdlife. The remote south sees fewer vehicles than the main entrance area. Walking safaris with armed rangers. Firepit evening sundowners. Bush breakfasts and picnic lunches in the park.
Who Is Nyikani Tarangire Best For?
The camp suits travellers who want a genuine bush camp atmosphere in Tarangire at a mid-range price โ not luxury, but authentic, well-managed and in a remote position that feels far from the main-gate crowds. Drive-in travellers bringing their own safari vehicles are the best fit. Families are accommodated by the dedicated family tent.
