3-Day Akagera National Park Tour

This is an entirely vehicle- and boat-based safari, with no walking activities involved. It suits all fitness levels.

Akagera now holds all five species following the reintroduction of lion and black rhino alongside its existing elephant and buffalo populations, with leopard also present. As with any wildlife safari, no individual sighting can be guaranteed, but the night game drive included on this itinerary improves your odds of spotting nocturnal predators.

A night game drive uses a spotlight to search for nocturnal and crepuscular species that are harder to find during the day, such as leopard, hyena and various smaller predators. It's a different and often rewarding experience compared to standard daytime game drives.

The dry seasons, from June to September and December to February, offer the easiest game viewing as animals concentrate around water sources. The wetter months bring lush scenery and strong birdwatching but can make some tracks harder to access.

The price covers park fees for non-residents, all activities unless labelled as optional, all accommodation unless listed as an upgrade, a professional driver-guide, all transportation unless labelled as optional, all taxes and VAT, roundtrip airport transfers, and the meals and drinking water specified in the day-by-day itinerary. International flights, additional accommodation before or after the tour, tips and personal items such as souvenirs, travel insurance and visa fees are not included.

Most nationalities can obtain a Rwanda tourist visa online before travel, and a regional East Africa visa covering Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya is also available. Travel insurance covering medical evacuation is recommended for any safari trip.
