3-Day Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari - Short & Sweet

It gives a real taste of both, an afternoon and morning in the Serengeti's Seronera area, plus a full day on the Ngorongoro Crater floor, but it's a focused, fast-paced itinerary rather than a leisurely one. If you'd prefer more depth, particularly in the Serengeti, our 4-Day Serengeti and Ngorongoro Experience adds a full extra day.

No fitness requirement applies, this is a vehicle-based safari throughout, with no walking required beyond getting in and out of the vehicle at picnic and viewing stops.

June to October is the dry season, with wildlife concentrated around water sources and generally the most reliable game viewing in both parks. January and February is the southern Serengeti calving season, with strong predator activity. The Ngorongoro Crater is productive year-round regardless of season.

The price covers 2 nights of lodge or tented accommodation, transport and game viewing in a modified 4x4 Land Cruiser with photographic roof hatch, services of a professional, experienced English-speaking driver-guide, all park fees and game drives as per the itinerary, mineral water per person during game drives, all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner during the safari), government VAT and Serengeti concession fees, and airport transfer. Personal items, hotel accommodation before and after the safari (available at extra cost), domestic and international flight tickets, gratuities, travel insurance, and drinks and beverages at lodges or camps are not included. The Ngorongoro Crater offers one of the densest wildlife concentrations on Earth, including a strong chance of spotting black rhino, alongside elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion, hyena and jackal. The Serengeti's Seronera area is rich in resident wildlife year-round, with cheetah, leopard and lion all realistic sightings.

Yes, the compact 3-day structure makes for an easy trip to plan around, though the daily driving involved (particularly the transfer days) is worth considering for very young children.

Most nationalities can obtain a Tanzania tourist visa online via the eTA system before travel, or on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport. The visa costs USD 50 for most nationalities and USD 100 for US citizens. Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical evacuation is recommended for all safari travelers, and we can arrange membership with the Flying Doctors Service on request.

SafariBando operates from Moshi with our own vehicles and team. If a vehicle has an issue, our Arusha operations base can dispatch a replacement. All vehicles carry a means of emergency communication, and lodges have radio or phone contact with the operations base. The Flying Doctors Service covers medical evacuation from both the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and we can arrange membership as part of your booking on request.
