Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp โ Luxury on the Rocky Outcrops
Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp is a 20-tent luxury camp hidden among rocky outcrops in the northern Serengeti near the Grumeti River โ one of the most isolated and wildlife-rich positions in the Serengeti ecosystem. The camp's location, described by Mahlatini Luxury Travel as "the secluded north-central Serengeti," provides access to the Migration crossing at the Grumeti River (June-July, when enormous Nile crocodiles ambush the herds) as well as year-round resident wildlife and, for those arriving by air, a 40-minute transfer from Lobo Airstrip that is itself a game drive.
The camp is part of Elewana Collection โ the Tanzanian luxury safari group that also operates Tarangire Treetops, The Manor at Ngorongoro and the new Serengeti Explorer. The Migration Camp's position on the rocky outcrops gives it elevated views across the Serengeti plains, and the camp's main guest area includes viewing platforms that exploit this topography fully. Reviews from November 2025 describe it as "professional luxury wrapped in friendliness" with a secluded Serengeti section largely to themselves.
Accommodation
Twenty spacious tents on wooden decks among the rocky outcrops. Each tent has king or twin beds, comfortable leather armchairs, writing table, en-suite bathroom with shower and double vanity, and a veranda with rocking chairs. The main guest area offers a swimming pool, restaurant, bar and viewing platforms with dramatic rocky outcrop and plain vistas.
Activities
Game drives in the northern Serengeti for the Migration and year-round resident wildlife. Night drives (permitted in the northern Serengeti). Walking safaris. Sundowners on the rocky outcrop viewpoints. Bush picnics and breakfasts. Hot-air balloon safaris. Cultural Maasai excursions.
Who Is Migration Camp Best For?
The camp is for travellers specifically planning their Serengeti timing around the Grumeti River Migration crossing (June-July) or wanting a secluded northern Serengeti position away from the central park crowds. The night drives are a differentiator โ fewer camps in the northern Serengeti offer them. The Elewana service standard ensures consistent quality.
