Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge β Central Serengeti With Migration Views From Your Tent
Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge is a 25-tent permanent camp perched on a low hillside in the central Serengeti, positioned on one of the main migration routes. Operated by Tanganyika Wilderness Camps, it offers a comfortable mid-to-upper-range Serengeti experience with the practical advantage of being able to watch the Great Migration β and daily wildlife β from the comfort of your tent veranda, the infinity pool or the restaurant deck.
The central location, northwest of Seronera, puts the camp within reach of the park's most varied game-viewing areas: the Seronera Valley with its year-round resident game and leopard, the Maasai Kopjes with their cheetah and lion, the Grumeti River system, and the Olduvai Gorge museum. The camp is approximately 35 minutes by road from Seronera Airstrip, or roughly 6 hours by road from Arusha via the Ngorongoro route.
Accommodation
Twenty-five spacious tents sit on raised wooden platforms under thatched roofs. Each has a comfortable bed with quality linen and mosquito netting, an en-suite bathroom with indoor facilities and an outdoor shower (for starlit washing at the end of the day), and a private terrace with panoramic Serengeti views. The interiors use a contemporary African palette β bright, clean lines with natural materials. The family tent connects two rooms with shared facilities and a private porch. WiFi is available in the main lodge area. Solar power supplements a generator for lighting and charging.
The main lodge is a substantial open-sided structure on a raised deck with sweeping views of the plains. An infinity pool is set into the hillside overlooking the savanna. A campfire circle provides the evening social hub. Massage treatment cabins offer post-drive relaxation.
Activities
Morning, afternoon and full-day game drives are the core offering. Hot-air balloon safaris provide aerial views of the migration and landscape. Cultural visits to a nearby Maasai village of the Mbuwge tribe can be arranged. Bush breakfasts and sundowner drinks in the park are available.
Who Is Kubu Kubu Best For?
Kubu Kubu suits travellers who want a well-appointed Serengeti base with pool, restaurant and solid comfort at a price point below the ultra-luxury tier. It is particularly good for families (all ages welcome, family tent available), group travel, and first-time safari visitors who want year-round game-viewing reliability from a central location. The 25-tent size means a more social atmosphere than boutique camps, and you may encounter other vehicles at popular sightings β a standard trade-off at this price point.

Kubu Kubu delivers a well-above-average Serengeti experience at a mid-range price. The hillside position means you genuinely can watch wildebeest from your tent during migration season, the infinity pool is one of the most photogenic in the central Serengeti, and the Tanganyika Wilderness Camps operation is reliable and well-managed. It is not intimate or exclusive β 25 tents makes it one of the larger camps in the area β but for families, groups or budget-conscious travellers who want a proper Serengeti experience with pool and comfort, Kubu Kubu is a strong choice. Combine with a Tortilis property in Tarangire or Ngorongoro for a complete mid-range Northern Circuit.β The SafariBando team
