Taasa Lodge — Private Concession Safari Near Klein's Gate

Taasa Lodge sits on its own private concession approximately 5 kilometres from Klein's Gate on the northeastern edge of the Serengeti, between the national park and the Loliondo Game Controlled Area. The location puts it within reach of three of East Africa's great ecosystems: the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the south, the Serengeti National Park to the west, and the Masai Mara National Reserve just 30 kilometres to the north. This triangulation gives Taasa's guests access to a broader range of game-viewing territory from a single base than most single-park camps can offer.

The private concession — leased from the local Maasai community — allows game drives without the vehicle restrictions of the national park, and the lodge's relationship with the surrounding Maasai community is genuine and longstanding. The eastern Serengeti's returning migration herds pass through the area in October and November after coming back from the Masai Mara, providing a different but equally compelling migration experience to the river crossings further north.

Accommodation

Twelve spacious tented suites are distributed at different elevations on the concession hillside, each with large en-suite bathrooms, elegant interiors, and private decks with Serengeti ecosystem views. Guests are assigned personal butler service throughout their stay. The central lodge features a lounge and bar, a dining tent, an infinity pool with panoramic views, and a firepit for evening storytelling. WiFi is available in the lounge and dining area. Mountain View suites offer the most elevated positions for those wanting the broadest panoramas; lower tents closer to the main area suit guests with limited mobility.

Activities

Game drives within the private concession and into the Serengeti National Park are the core activity. The location near Klein's Gate also provides access to the Loliondo Game Controlled Area — a vast and rarely visited wilderness where walking safaris are possible and vehicle numbers are extremely low. Maasai cultural visits to the lodge's community partners are authentic and unhurried. Bush dinners in scenic concession locations, sundowners on viewpoints, and private picnics are regularly offered. Balloon safaris can be arranged.

Taasa Lodge suits travellers who want a more off-the-beaten-track northern Serengeti experience than the mainstream camps around Kogatende and Lamai. The access to Loliondo's walking safaris, the Maasai community connection, and the three-ecosystem reach make it a strong choice for repeat safari visitors and those who want to build their own game-viewing programme across multiple areas from one base.
