Tarangire National Park Day Trip from Arusha

July to October, the dry season, is when Tarangire is at its best, wildlife from the surrounding ecosystem concentrates along the Tarangire River, and elephant herds reach their largest size of the year. The park is good year-round, but sightings are more concentrated and reliable during these months. The wetter months (November to June) bring lush, green scenery and excellent birding, but wildlife is more dispersed across a wider area.

Elephant is the headline draw, Tarangire has the highest density in Northern Tanzania and large herds are routine, especially in the dry season. Giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, and a wide range of antelope and gazelle species are also commonly seen, along with lion. Leopard and python are possible but far less predictable. Birdlife is excellent throughout the park, with over 550 species recorded.
